What and how about Grah shanti
This feature of Indian astrology is, in addition to the mathematics of the planets, the result has also been visualized. The effect of Indian astrology is to order auspicious results.
As –
“ज्योतिश्शास्त्रफलं पुराणगणकैरादेश इत्युच्यते”
Auspicious and inauspicious results are decided according to the celestial position of the planets. While traveling in their respective orbits, the planets often reach such a position that the Earthlings are seen moving at opposite (curvature) speed, sometimes they are seen fighting with each other. The planets together with different constellations form many such yoga seeing which the result of the great destruction is imagined. In the Mahabharata, Vyasamuni predicted the war of Mahabharata by seeing the position of the celestial planets.
For example –
“श्वेतो ग्रहो यथा चित्रां
समतिक्रम्य तिष्ठति
धूमकेतुः महाघोरः
पुष्यं चाक्राम्य तिष्ठति” ।।
i.e., the moon is in the chitra and the dhoomketu is in the Pushya constellation, so war is inevitable.
In the same way, many yog have been also said in various texts for the imagination of personal effect.
In the Smriti texts (Yajnavalkya Smriti etc.), instructions are received regarding the wickedness and arrogance of the planets and relevant measure for the mitigation are taken
Yajnavalkya says that →
यश्च यश्च ग्रहो दुष्ट:
शतं यत्नेन पूजयेत् ।
i.e., the one whose Grah is evil, pacify him by worship method. This proof is the foundation of planetary peace.
Method of Grah Shanti
In human life, sorrow and happiness keep on moving like the wheel of a chariot. The wheel of fate also moves like the wheel of a chariot.
As –
“चक्रारपंक्तिरिव गच्छति भाग्यपंक्ति:”
“नीचै: गच्छत्युपरि च दशा चक्रनेमिक्रमेण ” ।।
The sequence of human happiness and suffering can be predicted on the basis of planetary conditions. Whenever there is a possibility of the condition of a bad or inauspicious Grah, then it should be eradicated with the help of scriptural methods. For the peace of Grah, the proof of the number of chants of each planet is found differently.

बुद्ध | 9,000 | ॐ बुं बुद्धाय नमः |
गुरु | 19,000 | ॐ बृं बृहस्पतये नमः |
शुक्र | 16,000 | ॐ शुं शुक्राय नमः |
शनि | 23,000 | ॐ शं शनैश्चराय नमः |
राहु | 18,000 | ॐ रां राहवे नमः |
केतु | 17,000 | ॐ कें केतवे नमः |
In this way, after the commencement of the condition of the concerned Grah and taking a sankalp according to the number of chanting, the ritual of the concerned mantra should be done on the respective day in the auspicious time. After the required number of chanting dashansh Havan should also be done.
The special fact related to vaar(day) is that worship of all the planets should be done on day related to the Grah.
As – Chandra shanti (moon planet peace) is done on Monday, Surya shanti on Sunday, Budh Shanti on Wednesday. Similarly, worship of other planets can also be performed on the respective days. Rahu and Ketu’s qualities, defects and nature are like the Shani planet, remedies for their peace can be done on Saturdays.
